Kyle Orton, Miami Dolphins Negotiating Contract, According To Report

Is Kyle Orton's tenure with the Denver Broncos finally close to an end? According to Omar Kelly of the Sun-Sentinel, the quarterback is negotiating with the Miami Dolphins and several other teams for a new contract upon his trade. Kelly's source believes Orton is the top quarterback target for general manager Jeff Ireland.

What could complicate a new deal is Orton's desire to be paid $6 million per year. Do the Dolphins or any of the unnamed other teams want to pay him that much? Miami may be the only one since there is no "Quarterback of the Future" waiting in the wings in Miami. Arizona would also fit that mold, but they appear intent on trading for Kevin Kolb.

Even if the Broncos and the Dolphins do work out a trade, any new deal Orton signs cannot happen until Friday at 4 p.m. MT.
