2011 American Century Championship Tee Times: John Elway, Tim Tebow Ready For Friendly Competition

The 2011 American Century Championship begins play on Friday, and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and three-time winner Billy Joe Tolliver, the 2010 champ, are favorites to win this tournament. Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow, a first-time participant, has already conceded his chance at winning:

"It's hard to accept that I don't have a chance before I get started," said Tebow. "I'm competitive and I'll try my hardest, but I don't practice and I don't take lessons. I really just enjoy going out and betting against my brother (Robby). Some day, I'll find time to practice and get good at this game."

But he'll still give it a go--you just won't see him paired with Broncos VP John Elway with the NFL Lockout still in place. Tebow and Elway will be in different groups so the league-imposed rules on its officials will be kept. But if the two happen to meet on the course they can still make small talk (see Mark Cuban and his Mavericks at the 2011 ESPYs).

Here are some notable tee times:

11:00 a.m. MT - Joe Sakic, Martin Brodeur, Goose Gossage

First round coverage is on VERSUS from 2-5 p.m. MT.
