Former Denver Broncos quarterback Matt Mauck is now a practicing dentist locally in the Denver area, according to Denver Broncos PR man Patrick Smyth.
↵Back in 2004, the Broncos drafted LSU quarterback Matt Mauck in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, 225th overall. He was a late-round flyer whom Mike Shanahan and the Denver Broncos wanted to see if they could develop as a backup for Jake Plummer. To the best of my recollection, I recall ESPN pointing out that once Mauck was finished with the NFL that he planned to pursue a career as a dentist.
↵So, Mauck, who had led LSU to an NCAA championship as a junior before declaring early for the draft, spent 2004 with the Denver Broncos. He didn't appear in a game that season and moved on to the Tennessee Titans for the next two seasons. He actually played in two games for them, starting the 2005 season finale.
↵But Mauck eventually moved on to pursue his career in dentistry by attending the University of Colorado's School of Dentistry. So, congratulations to Matt! Start telling patients your NFL stories.
↵[UPDATED] Matt Mauck just graduated from CU's School of Dentistry and will be one of the Broncos' team dentists this fall.
