While Tim Tebow finished No. 3 in the fan vote for AFC quarterbacks, it wasn't enough for him to make the announced Pro Bowl roster after the coaches' and players' votes were factored in. Tebow, though, isn't without fallback options. He is an alternate for the game. The only thing, though, is that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was named the first alternate at the position, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy.
Dalton, a rookie, has led the Bengals to a 9-6 record and is on the verge of clinching a wild card spot. He has been more impressive of a passer than Tebow and has the whole rookie thing going for him. Tebow, meanwhile, suffers under constant scrutiny because he has been built up as some sort of football Jesus.
Also, kicker Mike Nugent is the first alternate kicker, making it hard for Matt Prater to make the final roster in late January.
