Sure, defensive tackle appears to be the position the Denver Broncos should look at in the 2012 NFL Draft, but the obvious position isn't always the correct one. CBS Sports' Dane Brugler still needs to have an updated mock draft now that Matt Barkley will return to USC for his senior season. But that doesn't affect the Broncos too much since Barkley was going to be a top 10 pick and unlikely to be the team's pick even if he fell down that far. Instead, Brugler opts for the Broncos to select Nebraska Cornhuskers cornerback Alfonzo Dennard with the No. 23 pick.
He makes a solid case for the selection. Champ Bailey, arguably one of the best corners in the league, is an aging veteran who needs help in the secondary. Andre Goodman isn't all that great while rookie Chris Harris has shown promise. But Dennard compares favorably to former teammate Prince Amukamara, who went in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
We'll know for sure that the Broncos are selecting among the playoffs teams should a victory over the Chiefs come on Sunday.
