The 2012 NFL Draft might just be the year the Denver Broncos make an upgrade at defensive tackle in the first round. Most mock drafts four months away from the even see the Broncos going in that direction. CBS Sports' Rob Rang goes in that direction when he comes to the Broncos at No. 23.
Rang has seen improved play in the middle of the defense as a result of Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil, but adding a first-round talent on the defensive line could make it even stronger. That's why Rang goes with Michigan State's Jerel Worthy:
Worthy is a gamble as he lacks consistency, but he could be a star -- especially when protected by the type of talent John Fox has already on this roster.
Worthy would likely not be expected to start right away, either. Ty Warren should be back from a tron pectoral muscle, barring another injury. Kevin Vickerson will also be back from his season-ending injury while Brodrick Bunkley and Marcus Thomas could both be back. The latter two are playing on one-year contracts.
