We're a bit more than four months out from the 2012 NFL Draft, but that won't stop the mock drafts from coming out. The draft is finally reaching a point where most of it will be settled and the week-in, week-out results won't fluctuate wildly over the final three weeks of the regular season.
If we look at CBS Sports' Rob Rang and his latest NFL mock draft, he has the Broncos selecting Clemson Tigers tight end Dwayne Allen at the No. 23 slot. Allen, 6 foot 4 and 255 pounds, had 48 receptions for 577 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior in 2011. Rang writes that Allen is a "solid blocker."
The tight end position has mostly been non-existent for the Broncos this season. Daniel Fells has not had much of an impact, rookie Julius Thomas has dealt with injury and the transition to being a full-time football player and Dante Rosario has been silent as well.
Allen might be a good player, but the Broncos could certainly do better in April by looking elsewhere. And we only have four months to go before we find who the Broncos will select.
