Denver Broncos running back Willis McGahee tantalized fantasy owners several weeks ago when he rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders. He then followed that up by leaving the game against the Kansas City Chiefs with a hamstring injury in the first quarter. While there were doubts about his availability against the Jets, McGahee gave it a go last Thursday and wound up struggling to 12 carries for 18 yards.
McGahee had been limited in practice all week before the Jets game, but this week he was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. However, numberFire isn't projecting a big game for the running back. McGahee is projected for just 6.82 points with nine carries for roughly 42 yards. Lance Ball could take carries away from him, and Tebow's ability to come up with the big running play from out of nowhere could also limit touches.
Still, this seems a bit too pessimistic right now. Expect numberFire to increase that number for their final projections, especially since the Broncos are facing the No. 23 rush defense in the league.
