Kyle Orton Awarded To Kansas City Chiefs

The NFL awarded off waivers quarterback Kyle Orton to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Denver Broncos released Orton on waivers on Tuesday afternoon after they thought it was the best thing to do. Orton and his agent had approached the Broncos about being released after Jay Cutler broke his thumb on Sunday. His preferred destination had been the Bears, the team that drafted him in 2005.

However, the Chiefs had a better waiver claim after going to 4-6 this week with a loss to the New England Patriots. The Chiefs were in a position to grab Orton because quarterback Matt Cassel had incurred a hand injury in a loss to the Broncos two weeks ago. Tyler Palko started in Cassel's place on Monday, but he was merely adequate, if that.

Orton had reportedly been telling the Chiefs to not put a claim in on him. Will Orton report to the Chiefs?
