The Denver Broncos might need to go with Lance Ball at running back against the New York Jets on Thursday night. After Tuesday's practice, it appears that Willis McGahee will have a tough time seeing the field with his hamstring injury. McGahee was limited in practice on Tuesday, taking part in drills and stretches before doing little else during the media session. He was later listed as a limited participant on the team's official injury report. Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post terms McGahee's status as "iffy."
Ball took over for McGahee and Knowshon Moreno (lost to a torn ACL) and had 30 carries for 96 yards. The team will stick with its run-first mentality with either Ball or McGahee as the starter. Jeremiah Johnson, recently signed from the practice squad, is likely to get some carries in this offense.
