Running back Willis McGahee broke his hand last Sunday against the Miami Dolphins while stiff-arming a Dolphins defender.
The Willis McGahee injury was so severe it required surgery earlier this week, but apparently it was not severe enough: The NFL has reportedly fined McGahee $7,500 for the stiff arm. According to the Denver Post:
First Broncos running back Willis McGahee had an 11-yard run called back in the third quarter last Sunday at Miami when he grabbed the facemask of Dolphin tackler, Sean Smith. McGahee drew a a 15-yard penalty on the play.
McGahee also broke the fourth metacarpal on his right hand on the play as it got caught up in Smith’s facemask. Finally, the league levied a $7,500 fine against McGahee for his infraction.
Lesson learned: Don't grab facemasks.
