Willis McGahee Injury Update: Denver Broncos RB Ruled Out Against Detroit Lions

On Friday afternoon, Denver Broncos head coach John Fox announced that running back Willis McGahee will miss Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. McGahee had surgery on a broken bone in his right hand on Tuesday and Fox wanted to wait as long as possible to see if McGahee could play on Sunday. After not practicing on Wednesday and Thursday, Friday's announcement comes as no surprise.

Now the Broncos will rely on Knowshon Moreno as the starting running back, a role had played in the previous two seasons. However, Moreno has failed to perform as well as one would expect from the No. 12 overall selection (2009). Lance Ball will serve as a change-of-pace back while the team is expected to add another running back to the roster. Jeremiah Johnson from the practice squad is the leading candidate.
