Carson Palmer Trade To Raiders Leaves Kyle Orton Waiting, Unlikely To Be Dealt

Don't look for Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton to land in Oakland before the NFL trade deadline hits at 2:00 p.m. MT on Tuesday. The Raiders have reportedly sent their 2012 first-round pick and a conditional 2013 first-round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals for Carson Palmer, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The Oakland Raiders have traded away most of the 2012 draft picks in deals for Jason Campbell, Aaron Curry, 2011 draft picks and a supplemental draft pick of Terrelle Pryor.

Palmer had retired from the Cincinnati Bengals once the team was unwilling to trade him in late July and early August. Look for him to need some time to get back ino NFL-playing shape.

Kyle Orton could still be dealt before Tuesday's deadline, but that seems unlikely. Since he didn't ask for a trade and the Broncos likely wouldn't get much for him, it would be better if they let him walk after this season and eventually receive a compensatory pick for the loss.

While there were never real rumors about Orton to the Raiders, Peter King and others suggested it would have been a good match.
