Denver Broncos, St. Louis Rams Trade For Brandon Lloyd Has 'Hurdles' To Get Through, According To Report

Despite early reports of the Denver Broncos and the St. Louis Rams being close to a deal for wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, the trade still has "a lot of hurdles" to overcome before it is complete, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter's source on this one is an official involved in the deal, but the report doesn't mean it won't happen.

Lloyd might want to work out a contract extension with the Rams before going through with the deal or the Broncos could be holding firm on the draft pick compensation they want in return from the Rams. At this point, all we know is that both sides are still discussing a deal. This could drag on for a few more hours or even into Tuesday.

The Broncos have a glut of receivers with Eddie Royal and Demaryius Thomas returning, which makes Lloyd expendable. Also, the emergence of Eric Decker has diminished Lloyd's role in the offense.
