Projected First Overall Pick Stanford QB Andrew Luck To Stay In College

The 2011 NFL Draft just became more hazy.

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, who had been assured of being the top overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers, has decided to stay at Stanford and finish his Architecture degree.

Breaking news: Stanford has announced Andrew Luck is returning for his senior year. Great for Andrew, great for college football.less than a minute ago via TweetDeck

While the Denver Broncos likely did not have a chance at drafting Luck, one of the highest rated QB prospects in years, it does have a direct impact on their second overall selection. The Carolina Panthers were sold on Luck as their choice, but now may decide to use their pick on one of the top defensive players in the draft, including Clemson DE Da'Quan Bowers or Auburn DE/DT Nick Fairley. The Denver Broncos are now at the mercy of the Carolina Panthers, whereas just yesterday it seemed they had their choice of defensive players on the draft board.
