The 2011 Senior Bowl has been a mostly one-sided affair as the South Team leads 17-0 at halftime. Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder connected with Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Leonard Hankerson for an 18-yard touchdown at 2:12 in the first quarter. West Virginia running back Noel Devine rushed for a one-yard touchdown with about four minutes remaining left in the second quarter. LSU Tigers kicker Josh Jasper had a 23-yard field goal to start the scoring in the first quarter.
Ponder was 5-of-9 for 94 yards and a touchdown pass. His first pass of the game was a 48 yard throw to Hankerson, a play on which Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Jalil Brown was covering. Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Greg McElroy (4-of-6, 26 yards) and TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Andy Dalton (1-of-3, eight yards) have also seen the field. Dalton was sacked by Purdue Boilermakers defensive end Ryan Kerrigan late in the quarter.
For the North team, Washington Huskies quarterback Jake Locker has completed only one pass on three tries for two yards. The rushing effort has totaled -15 yards on five carries (Iowa Hawkeyes quarterback Ricky Stanzi lost 11 yards).
