Report: Broncos Close To Hiring Jim Mora Jr. As Defensive Coordinator

It appears that new Denver Broncos head coach John Fox is close to hiring Jim Mora Jr. as the team's new defensive coordinator, reports Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post. Earlier in the day, the Broncos lost out on Sean McDermott, who was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend. McDermott was hired by Fox's old team, the Carolina Panthers.

Mora, who flew into Denver on late Monday, has been a coach in the NFL since 1985 when he started as a defensive quality control coach with the San Diego Chargers. He worked his way up to be the San Francisco 49ers' defensive coordinator from 1999-2003. He then spent 2004-2006 as the Atlanta Falcons' head coach. After two seasons as an assistant head coach with the Seattle Seahawks before taking over the reins there in 2009. He lasted only one season, as his team went 5-11. He joined the NFL Network as an on-air personality in 2010.

Mora is the son of former NFL head coach Jim Mora, who spent his time with the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts.
