Tim Tebow In Short-Yardage Plays? 'Ridiculous,' Says Josh McDaniels

The Broncos have a problem. They have trouble running the ball and scoring when inside the red zone. But don't believe that Tim Tebow is the solution to the problem that ails the Broncos. On Monday, head coach Josh McDaniels made that clear:

"We're not going to do that in short yardage," McDaniels said. "People who mention that, I don't know, that's ridiculous."

But for how long will that be? If these problems persist McDaniels needs to at least give some thought to using Tim Tebow that way.

However, that McDaniels says this now tells us a little about where Tebow stands right now. On Sunday it was Brady Quinn who backed up Kyle Orton, which the above-linked article mentions was due to his ability to run the game plan better against the Colts if Orton went down.

Maybe, just maybe McDaniels has started to realize that if Tebow is his quarterback of the future it will be best for him to develop on the sidelines instead of receiving a potential injury on some short-yardage play.
