Josh McDaniels Fired; Ed Donatell Likely Candidate For Interim Coach?

Multiple in-house candidates for the interim head coaching job are being floated, but none as strongly as Secondary Coach Ed Donatell, who served in that same capacity for the back to back 1998-1999 Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos.

Most likely candidates on current staff to be interim coach: secondary coach Ed Donatell, who has a history here and longest NFL resume ...less than a minute ago via TweetDeck

Donatell has the most coaching experience on the staff, including a stint with the Atlanta Falcons and in college, working with the Washington Huskies.

Another likely candidate is defensive coordinater Don "Wink" Martindale, though he lacks the experience that Donatell brings to the table, though he has served as a defensive coordinator at multiple college football programs.

Regardless of who is made interim head coach, expect that person to only serve as head coach for the final four games of the season. Broncos owner Pat Bowlen is likely looking to make a splash and sign an established name from within the coaching ranks.
