Broncos Vs. Chiefs: Late Field Goal Lifts Kansas City To 10-3 Halftime Lead

The first half came to a close as the Kansas City Chiefs place kicker Ryan Succop kicked a personal season long 47-yard field goal to extend the lead over the Denver Broncos 10-3.

Denver coach Josh McDaniels tried to ice Succop, calling a timeout before the kick, but after the break Succop didn't crumble and split the uprights.

The fast moving first half came to a close with the two teams combining for a total of 339 yards.

For the Broncos, quarterback Kyle Orton was 5 of 10 for 71 yard with no touchdowns or interceptions. Knowshon Moreno rushed 15 times for 85 yard to lead the team. On the day Orton has found five different receivers, with Eric Decker leading in yards after a 28 yard reception on the Broncos scoring drive.

The Chiefs are led by Matt Cassel, who completed 11 of 19 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown. Jamaal Charles leads the Chiefs in rushing, registering 45 yards on the ground. Tony Moeaki and Thomas Jones each have three receptions a piece, securing 46 and 42 yards respectively. All-Pro receiver Dwayne Bowe does not have a catch while Leonard Pope has the lone touchdown on the day.

The Chiefs will receive the second half kickoff.
