Bulls' Joakim Noah Meets Broncos Great John Elway--In A Steam Room

New, 2 comments

This is one of those stories that you just can't make up. Last week when the Chicago Bulls were in town to face the Denver Nuggets, Joakim Noah wound up having a "kind of weird" encounter with Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway in a hotel steam room and recently discussed it with reporters. As Al Yellon of SB Nation Chicago informs us:

His descriptions of the "meeting" -- it really wasn't one because Noah said he never said a word to Elway -- included "kind of weird, but it's a true story," "a weird moment, kind of awkward," "I was going to say something, but figured he just wants to spend some time alone," and "it was just me and him in there."

Noah did mention he wanted to say something to Elway, but then thought better of it. He's right. Elway probably wanted to have his time to himself. But this also raises one of those questions of how prominent athletes react when they meet players they grew up hearing about and watching on TV.

Yeah, Noah is an NBA star, but how does one approach the greatest quarterback of all-time? "Mr. Elway, Joakim Noah of the Bulls. Just want to say it is a pleasure to meet you." And then he slips in the sauna and . . . oh, wait, that's something from an episode of Seinfeld.

Anyway, here's the video by Fred Mitchell of the Chicago Tribune. It starts about 1:00 into it.
