Even during the NFL season, fans are always wondering who their teams might draft in April. Why not? It's often a lot better to think about the draft than whether one's team will win another game this season (looking at you, Carolina Panthers). Well, SB Nation has its first 2011 NFL mock draft ready for everyone's consumption. The big story line for this mock draft is, how far will Washington quarterback Jake Locker fall? According to this mock, Locker could fall all the way to the middle of the round, while Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck would go No. 1 overall.
↵As for the Broncos, the selection is a bit out there:
↵↵↵9. Denver Broncos (3-6): Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue. Let's be honest: nobody knows what Josh McDaniels is going to do on draft day. We simply put the most logically illogical player in this spot; Kerrigan fits McDaniels' odd taste in 3-4 linebackers.

Would this be for insurance in case Elvis Dumervil fails to return to his previous level of performance? Right now, there is more of a need for help on the defensive line since the rush defense is atrocious. Cornerback is also a possibility if Champ Bailey doesn't re-sign with the club.
↵In a month or two, we'll all be discussing how silly these early projections were at the time.
