Denver Broncos Release Statement On D.J. Williams

The Denver Broncos have released a statement concerning linebacker D.J. Williams’ arrest on Friday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence. A part of the statement:

He will not start in Sunday’s game against the Chiefs and has been stripped of his captaincy for the season.

The team has fined Williams the most they can under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, will not start him on Sunday against the Chiefs and has stripped him of his captaincy for the rest of the season. Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post reports that Williams is set for his first court appearance on Dec. 13.

A future conviction could send him to prison for 10 days, and the NFL will likely suspend Williams since this was his second DUI.
