After opening the season with two games in the first two weeks of college basketball season, the Colorado State Rams begin a stretch of three games in six days, two on the road, as they face the Denver Pioneers at Magness Arena in Denver on Wednesday.
Colorado State, an NCAA Tournament team a season ago, is 2-0 on the season, with wins over Montana and Chadron State. Forward Colton Iverson leads the team in scoring at 18.0 points per game, while Greg Smith adds 12.5 and Daniel Bejerano contributes 10.5 off the bench. The Rams have shot 46.3 percent from the field this season but have struggled from distance, shooting only 17.0 percent from behind the arc.
Denver is 1-2, having beaten Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, but falling to Iona in the season opener and then to Cal in its most recent game. Forward Chris Udofia leads the team with 17.7 points per game, while Brett Olson chips in 13.3. The Pioneers head on a two-game road trip to Southern Mississippi and Stanford following the contest with Colorado State.
