Chris Nwoke Injury: Rams Running Back Not Likely To Play On Saturday

The Colorado St. Rams were hopeful that starting running back Chris Nwoke had recovered from his ankle injury as he returned to practice on Tuesday, but on Wednesday things took a step back. Nwoke suited up in full pads, but he barely participated meaning that he likely will not be playing in Saturday's game against San Jose State.

Head coach Jim McElwain has already said this season that if players don't practice they don't play, and on Wednesday he reiterated that point since Nwoke did not see the field during Wednesday's practice:

"(Nwoke) didn't take any team reps," McElwain said. "Therefore, I would probably figure that he wouldn't go."

With Nwoke more than likely not playing on Saturday, then the starting running back spot falls to Donnell Alexander. Alexander underperformed in last week's loss to North Dakota State by rushing for only 59 yards, and just under half of those yards came on a 27-yard run.
