Colorado State Football Recruiting 2013: Rams Land Talent From Texas

While the state of Colorado can produce some talented prospects, Jim McElwain will need to go outside of the state to find talent if he wants to build a program. This recruiting strategy was put on display, as the Rams landed a commitment from Dalton Vondra of Kennedale, Texas. According to an interview with the Coloradoan, Vondra was drawn to the offensive scheme at CSU:

"This program is up-and-coming. The new coach is going to do great things," Vondra said. "I love playing tight end. I’m very good off the ball, dominant when I’m blocking, and then I’m very good at getting open, we just don’t throw the ball that much.

"CSU is basically going to run Alabama’s offense, and they use the tight end a lot, so I really wanted to be a part of that."

Vondra is the 6th commitment for CSU in the 2013 class. Vondra is the first commit to come from outside the state of Colorado.
