Colorado State Basketball: Junior College Point Guard Jonathan Octeus Signs On With CSU

Colorado St. Rams basketball coach Larry Eustachy has been busy courting junior college transfers in his first offseason, and after signing 6-foot-10 big man Gerson Santo out of junior college in April, he found a point guard prospect from Wabash Valley College in Illinois. According to Kelly Lyell of the Coloradoan, a 6-foot-4 point guard from Royal Palm Beach high school in Miramar, Florida named Jonathan Octeus signed a letter of intent with Eustachy and the Rams on Monday, May 1. Octeus has three years of eligibility left, and according to the NJCAA website, he averaged 12.3 points on 41 percent shooting, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 29 contests last season.

As for why he chose Colorado State over other suitors like Indiana State, Eastern Kentucky and Missouri State, Octeus told Lyell he relished the opportunity to play for a coach that would hold him accountable for everything, and then noted that Eustachy said "he'll play the guys who play the hardest....Dorian is a great point guard, and I'm looking forward to coming in and learning from him; but I'm going to compete with him, too."
