2012 Mountain West Tournament: Air Force's Michael Lyons Named To All-District Team

Air Force Falcons junior Michael Lyons was named second team all-Mountain West earlier this week, and today the 6-foot-6 wing received another honor. Lyons was one of 10 players named to the All-District VIII team, as selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. District VIII is made up of Division I schools in the states of Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and Montana.

Lyons was slowed by an ankle injury that forced him to sit out six games this season, but the junior still had a tremendous year. Lyons' points per game average of 15.5 was nearly five points higher than any of teammates (guard Mike Fitzgerald averaged 10.6 points per game), and he was also second on the team in rebounding.

Lyons was one of four players from the Mountain West named to the team, along with Colorado State's Wes Eikmeier, UNLV's Mike Moser, and New Mexico's Drew Gordon.
