The Colorado State Rams will take on the Air Force Falcons in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament on Thursday, but before the Rams begin the postseason, two of the team's key components were recognized for their stellar work during the regular season.
On Wednesday, Colorado State coach Tim Miles was named District VIII men's basketball Coach of the Year by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Rams guard Wes Eikmeier was also honored, as he was named to the 10-man all-region team.
"Any time there's an award like this, the head coach always feels humbled," Miles said. "It wouldn't be possible without a great team and a great coaching staff. There are so many people that work hard for out program to make it successful."
Eikmeier is the second leading scorer in the conference this season at 16 points per game.
