Colorado State Spring Football: All Positions Will Get Equal Reps

The Colorado St. Rams opened up spring practice on Tuesday under new head coach Jim McElwain in hopes to improve off of three-straight 3-9 campaigns. In McElwain's pre-spring press conference he touched on that will not really have a depth chart and that there will be equal reps at all positions. That means that a few key positions where spots were likely already claimed are open such as the quarterback and running back spot.

It was assumed that Garrett Grayson would be the starter since he took over for Pete Thomas late in the season and is no longer with the team, plus Grayson has the most experience. Also, the running back spot should go to Chris Nwoke since he was the starter last season and is the most experienced returning player.

However, this is likely a ploy to get everyone to play their best since theoretically every starting position is on the line, and this also makes sure players do not get too comfortable in spring drills if they assume they are locked in with a starting spot.

He also is said that special teams will be key to improving the team and finding "hidden yardage" in games.
