College Basketball Rankings: Lobos Fall, Runnin' Rebels Climb In Latest AP Poll

The New Mexico Lobos watched as their short stay on the Top 25 disappeared within a week, and meanwhile, the UNLV basketball team eases even closer to the Top 10.

After a seven-game win streak that put them into the Top 25 rankings, the New Mexico Lobos (22-6, 8-4) have fallen not only from the latest AP Poll, but also from the lead of the Mountain West Conference standings.

The Lobos lost twice last week, falling 63-71 to the Colorado St. Rams (17-10, 6-6) on Tuesday, and then getting blown out 64-83 by the TCU Horned Frogs (17-11, 7-5) on Saturday. New Mexico has two more games to try to prove themselves, but considering their opponents are the Mountain West basement dwellers -- the Air Force Falcons (13-13, 3-9) and the Boise St. Broncos (13-14, 3-9) -- the Lobos' chances of returning to the Top 25 Rankings appear rather narrow.
