The Colorado St. Rams are fresh off a 77-60 upset over the San Diego St. Aztecs, now ranked No. 17 in the polls. Coach Tim Miles and the Rams are now 14-6 overall with a 3-2 record in Mountain West play. That has the team just one game out of first-place, which is currently shared by the Aztecs and Wednesday night's opponent, the UNLV Rebels. A second signature win over a Top 15 team by the Rams would make a strong case for the school's at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament should they not win the conference tournament.
But the Rebels represent a significant challenge for the Rams. UNLV enters this game at 20-3 and 4-1 overall in the league. Ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 13 in the Coaches Poll, the Rebels are led by Mike Moser's 14.7 points and Chace Stanback's 14.1 points. Moser is also a beast around the boards with 11.7 rebounds per game. The Rebels are on a four-game winning streak after losing to the Aztecs, 69-67, on Jan. 14. There's probably a logical fallacy to make with this game after reading that.
The Rams ended a two-game losing streak on Saturday with the victory over the Aztecs. They also know that the Air Force Falcons took the Rebels to overtime over the weekend. Wes Eikmeier and Dorian Green average 15.8 points and 13.5 points, respectively, to help the Rams to get to this point. This will be the team's second- or third-toughest game of the season, having lost to the Duke Blue Devils back in December.
