Colorado State's Nordly Capi Earns Mountain West Defensive Player Of The Week

The Week 1 Mountain West football players of the week were announced today and the defensive award went to Colorado State defensive lineman Nordly Capi who was all over the field making plays in their 14-10 win over New Mexico on Saturday. Here is the press release from the Mountain West:

Nordly Capi set a new NCAA single-game record with four forced fumbles in Colorado State's 14-10 victory at New Mexico. Capi's fourth forced fumble of the contest helped the Rams preserve their first conference victory. With nine seconds remaining and the Lobos positioned at the Ram 15 yard line, the Ocoee, Fla. native stripped New Mexico QB Tarean Austin and recovered the ball to wrap up CSU's first victory of 2011.The win also snapped an 11-game road losing streak. In total, Capi registered seven tackles (five solo), 4.5 tackles for loss (-27 yards), 3.5 sacks (-22), four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

These stats from the opener added up to be more stats than Capi accumulated in all of 2010 where he had only three total tackles on the season.
