Becky Hammon An All-Time WNBA Player, Does Colorado State Proud

Former Colorado State Rams basketball player Becky Hammon was voted a top 15 all-time WNBA player on Saturday, the day of the 2011 WNBA All-Star Game. Hammon, who plays for the San Antonio Silver Stars, scored eight points as a reserve for the West team, which lost 118-113. Among the greats that she shares this stage with include Sue Bird, Lauren Jackson and Sheryl Swoopes.

Congratulations, Becky, on this honor! It is a nice one to go along with being the best basketball player in CSU history. She's the all-time leader in points with 2,740--that's including the men's team.

If one is not familiar with her WNBA game (13.1 ppg, 3.5 apg in her career), Hammon did become a topic of controversy in 2008 when she played for the Russian National Team in the Olympics. Team USA didn't offer Hammon an initial tryout offer for the Olympics, so she turned to the Russian national team. She plays in a Russian league during the off-season, which doesn't make it all that odd. But some criticism went too far and labeled her a traitor.
