Mountain West Tournament 2011: Day One Begins With No. 8 Wyoming Taking On No. 9 TCU

The Mountain West Conference tournament tips off this afternoon at the Thomas and Mack Center with the eight seed Wyoming Cowboys taking on the ninth seed TCU Horned Frogs. The winner of this game gets the privilege to play top seed BYU Cougars Friday.

Both Wyoming and TCU split their season series with both teams winning on their home court, and as for TCU their last win on the season came against Wyoming back on Jan. 12. when they easily defeated TCU 78-60. Wyoming is doing only slightly better since they have won two games out of their last 10, and one of those wins came from a 10-point win over TCU. For today's matchup, TCU is a 1.5 point favorite over Wyoming.

Players to watch on the TCU side are guard J.R. Cadot who has scored in double figures five out of the six last games and averages just under six rebounds per game and the other player is forward Garlon Green. Green averages 11 points per game and has been in a mini-slump for TCU, but he needs to step up since leading scorer Ronnie Moss has been out with a suspension since January 28th.

Wyoming's key players are Amath M'Baye who has been playing very well since he scored 21 points when Wyoming last played TCU. The other key for Wyoming is to have Desmar Jackson have a solid game and getting him close to the 20 point margin. If those two players can combine for 35 points then Wyoming has a good chance of winning.

Today's game tips at 3 p.m. Mountain time and will be shown in high-definition on The Mtn. which is available on nationwide on DirecTv (the sports package is needed if you live outside of the leagues footprint) on channel 616. Here is a list of carriers that have The Mtn.
