The New No. 1: Kansas Jayhawks or Texas Longhorns?

Now that they have lost their first game of the season, the Ohio St. Buckeyes are expected to lose the No. 1 ranking in the polls. The No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the country, the Kansas Jayhawks and the Texas Longhorns, both won on Saturday afternoon. The Jayhawks defeated the Iowa St. Cyclones, 89-66, while the Longhorns sent Baylor to a 69-60 loss.

Overall, the Jayhawks are 24-1 (9-1 Big 12), but that one loss happened against Texas back on Jan. 22. And that was a home loss. The Longhorns, meanwhile, are 22-3 (10-0 Big 12) with losses to the Pittsburgh Panthers (then and now No. 4) at Madison Square Garden for the Coaches vs. Cancer title, to the USC Trojans on the road and to the Connecticut Huskies at a neutral location. They also picked up quality wins against Illinois and North Carolina at neutral locations and on the road against Michigan St. The Jayhawks have non-conference wins over Arizona and Memphis at neutral locations

Can a three-loss Texas jump the one-loss Kansas in the polls? Probably not, but find out Monday to be sure.
