Coming off an 87-64 loss to No. 5 Duke, the Colorado State Rams got back in the win column with a 85-61 over Texas Southern on Monday. The win was the Rams' first since November 30. Colorado State improved to 6-4 in victory, while Texas Southern fell to 1-8.
Junior guard Wes Eikmeier powered Colorado State throughout, scoring 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Junior guard Dorian Green added 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting, while forward Greg Smith came off the bench to score 13 points. Kaipo Sabas (10 points) and Will Bell (eight points) also played well in the win.
Junior guard Dexter Ellington was the lone Tigers scorer to reach double-figures, finising with 17 points in large part thanks to going 9-for-9 fron the free throw line. Texas Southern had 12 players score in the loss.
Colorado State's big edge came in three-point shooting. The Rams knocked down 11-for-25 three-pointers, while Texas Southern shot just 4-fo-20 from downtown.
