The Colorado Buffaloes are trying to extend a three-game winning streak against the Colorado State Rams on Wednesday night, but they currently trail 32-25 at halftime on the road. Both teams currently hold 4-2 records, but that will obviously change after tonight.
It was an extremely competitive first half, although the Rams actually finished it on a 10-1 run to take the lead after Colorado got out to a 24-22 edge. The Buffaloes can probably blame themselves for trailing, though, as the team shot an abysmal 6-for-16 (37.5 percent) from the free throw line in the first half.
Spencer Dwindle has the way for Colorado so far, notching 11 points and four rebounds. No other player on the Buffaloes has more than four points so far. The Rams have been led by guard Wes Elkmeier, who's tallied 9 points, two steals and an assist thus far. Guard Dorian Green has scored just four points on 1-for-5 shooting, but he also grabbed six rebounds, while fellow guard Dwight Smith recorded five rebounds, three steals and a block.
The Buffaloes are coming off a 70-68 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs, but lost to Maryland and Wichita State earlier in the season. Colorado State hasn't beaten a school from a major conference yet, but they've lost to Stanford and Southern Miss already this season. Colorado presumably has its eye on Dec. 7, though, when they face the Duke Blue Devils.
