The Colorado St. Rams could play spoiler to the TCU Horned Frogs' chances of winning a share of the Mountain West Conference championship if they pull off the road upset on Saturday. But they might not have quarterback Peter Thomas to do it. The Denver Post's Chris Dempsey reports that Thomas is "day-to-day" for the game.
Should Thomas' knee sprain keep him out of Saturday's game, freshman Garrett Grayson is expected to receive the start. Grayson enrolled at the school in January and was able to take part in spring practice. Grayson is more of a passing quarterback than Thomas is.
Head coach Steve Fairchild does appear to want to play Grayson either way, so the Pete Thomas era might not last much longer. With Fairchild on the hot seat he'll need to try anything to spark this team to some late season victories. An upset win over TCU would certainly go a long way in helping to cool down that seat.
