Colorado St. Rams Stage Comeback, But Lose 18-15 To San Diego St. Aztecs

The Colorado St. Rams (3-6) entered the 4th quarter down by eight, but their comeback bid fell just short as the San Diego St. Aztecs (6-3) held on for their sixth win of the season.

Sophomore Chris Nwoke's stunning 232 rushing yards could not invigorate the otherwise stifled Rams offense, as the Aztecs escaped with the win.

The Rams defense stopped the driving Aztecs at the end of the 3rd quarter, taking the ball on a turnover on downs near their own 30 yard line. Down 15-7 at the half and at the end of the third quarter, the Rams offense drove the length of the field -- with the help of two personal foul penalties -- to score on a Garrett Grayson touchdown run. Grayson then dashed into the end zone for the two-point conversion and a 15-15 tie game.

The Aztecs responded quickly with an 8-play drive, setting up a 37-yard Abelardo Perez field goal and an 18-15 Aztecs lead. The Rams offense got the ball again twice, but could not muster more than 20 yards on both drives combined.

The Rams will be in action again next week, travelling to face the TCU Horned Frogs, trying break their five-game losing streak.
