Following a strong game against UNLV where he set a new career-long with a 49-yard field goal, Colorado State Rams' kicker Jared Roberts was named Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday according to the team's official site.

The 6'1 Littleton, Colo. native drilled field goals of 49 and 32 yards on Saturday to help sink the Rebels, along with chipping in three extra-points on a day when freezing temperatures made things especially tough on kickers. Roberts is currently atop the MWC with a stellar 88.9 field goal percentage through 10 games, and has yet to miss a field goal attempt shorter than 50 yards this season.

This marked the second time in 2012 that Roberts has taken home league honors for his work on special teams, as his 3-for-3 performance against rival Colorado in Week 1 also earned him a weekly all-conference nod. Though he is only in his first year as a starter, the young kicker looks like he may be the frontrunner at his position for First Team All-MWC.
