Colorado State vs. San Diego State: Jim McElwain wary of Leon McFadden

Colorado State needs to be concerned with where San Diego State safety Leon McFadden lines up on defense.

When the Colorado St. Rams take on the San Diego St. Aztecs on Saturday afternoon, there is one player on the field that concerns Rams head coach Jim McElwain. That player is San Diego State cornerback Leon McFadden. McFadden could easily be in the NFL this year, but he elected to stay in the Mountain West one more year to see what his team could accomplish.

McElwain has every reason to be concurred about McFadden as he is second in the Mountain West in interceptions with three, and two of them were returned for touchdowns. Plus, McFadden has also forced a fumble and broke up six passes.

Colorado State offensive coordinator Dave Baldwin calls McFadden the best cornerback in the league:

He's "by far" the best cornerback in the MW, Baldwin said Wednesday.

"They don't try to hide him, either," Baldwin said. "They put him on islands where it's man coverage, and that's what's impressive about it. He gets locked up man-on-man, and that's what the NFL's going to love about him."

Colorado State will need to form a game plan where they can somehow knock McFadden off of his game. If they can not do that then McFadden can shutdown his portion of the field all by himself, and force Colorado State to use only half of the field in the passing game.
