John Mayberry Jr. hit the game-winning single to elevate the Philadelphia Phillies over the Colorado Rockies, 3-2. Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon notched his fifth win of the season after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Rockies pitcher Matt Belisle dropped to 3-6 after loading the bases in the ninth before allowing Mayberry's single.
The initial reaction to Mayberry's hit was confusion after Carlos Gonzalez appeared to have made the diving catch. Gonzalez was unable to hang onto the ball during contact with the ground and the umpire ruled it a hit.
Tyler Cloyd will try to give the Phillies their second win of the day in the nightcap of Sunday's double-header, which was scheduled due to rain that postponed Saturday's game. He will face Rockies pitcher Drew Pomeranz.
