Rockies Vs. Phillies: Colorado Plays Doubleheader On Sunday

The Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies will play a day-night doubleheader Sunday, following Saturday's rain-out. It will be Colorado's first doubleheader since May 28, when the team took two games from the Houston Astros.

In this afternoon's game, Colorado's Tyler Chatwood will face Phillies starter Cole Hamels. Chatwood has made 14 appearances and seven starts for the big league club, and is 4-4 on the season with a 5.53 ERA. He struggled in his last outing, lasting just three innings against Atlanta. Despite Philadelphia's struggles, Hamels is having arguably the best season of his six-year major league career, going 14-6 with a 3.04 ERA in 26 starts. In his last start against the Rockies, Hamels went 8 innings and conceded just one run on July 15.

The evening game features two promising young starters. Colorado turns to lefty Drew Pomeranz, who is 1-8 on the season with a 4.93 ERA. Pomeranz threw three scoreless innings in his last start, scattering five hits and working out of trouble. Philadelphia will hand the ball to Tyler Cloyd. The young right-hander is making just his third major league start, but gave up just four earned runs in 13 innings in his first two appearances.

The day's two games are scheduled for 11:05 a.m. and 4:35 MT. Television coverage is available on Root Sports. Radio coverage will be from KOA 850.
