Rockies vs. Cubs: Colorado looks to build on Monday win

The Chicago Cubs will come to Coors Field starting on Tuesday for a battle against the Colorado Rockies for the second overall pick in the draft.

Presswire

The road to 100 losses for the Colorado Rockies got a short pit stop on Monday when they won a 4-2 game over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Now they'll face off against the Chicago Cubs in a battle for the No. 2 draft pick next season.

Colorado (59-94) and Chicago (59-94) are both a bit too far away from the Houston Astros to catch them at the first overall pick, but they can battle it out for second place at the bottom of the standings.

Jorge De La Rosa (0-1, 12.27 ERA) will look to rebound from his awful first start of the year with the Rockies in the first game against the Cubs. He'll face off against Chris Rusin (1-2, 6.00 ERA), who is looking for his second win of the season in his rookie year.

With the nine-game losing streak monkey off their backs, the Rockies need to play better than .500 ball throughout the rest of the season if they want to stay away from the 100-loss mark. Against the Cubs, they'll have their best chance at snatching a few wins as the season draws to a close.
