Rockies Activate Edgmer Escalona From Disabled List

The Colorado Rockies have activated right-handed pitcher Edgmer Escalona from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday. He will be available for the Rockies matinee game against the Padres. The 25-year-old reliever went on the DL August 11 with tendon inflammation in his right elbow. He had been up and down with the Rockies over the past three seasons.

Before going on the DL, Escalona made nine appearances with the big-league club in 2012, giving up 11 earned runs in just 8.1 innings of work. He made two separate rehab appearances with Triple-A Colorado Springs, giving up no runs and striking out two in 1.2 innings.

First pitch for Sunday's game is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. MT. Heralded prospect Casey Kelly will be making just his second big league start for the Padres, while Jeff Francis will be on the hill for the Rockies.
