The Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres close out their three-game series on Sunday at Coors Field with the latter putting one of the top young pitchers on the mound: Casey Kelly. In just his second start, Kelly we attempt to pass the Coors Field test.
Kelly (1-0, 0.00 ERA) pitched six shutout innings in his debut on Aug. 28. He struck out four, allowed three hits and walked two against the Atlanta Braves. The Padres won the game, 3-0. Kelly joined the Padres during the 2010 offseason when the Red Sox sent him to the West Coast in the Adrian Gonzalez deal. Gonzalez is now back in the NL West as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Rockies will have Jeff Francis (5-4, 5.44 ERA) on the mound. Francis picked up the win in his last start, pitching five shutout innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He struck out six before leaving the game, which ended as a 10-0 victory. Francis had pitched at least five innings in each of his last four starts.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. MT. ROOT Sports and 850 KOA will have live coverage.
