Rockies' Asheville Tourists Win Low-A South Atlantic League

The Colorado Rockies low Single A affiliate Asheville Tourists won the South Atlantic League champions as they defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 10-4. The Tourists broke open the game in the top of the fifth inning as they extended their 2-1 lead, by scoring three runs.

The first run in the fifth came when there was a throwing error by the Grasshoppers, and it allowed Ryan Casteel to cross the plate. The next two runs came when Jordan Ribera hit a two-run RBI single to extend their lead 5-2.

The Tourists really took control of the game when they scored an additional five runs in the top of the seventh inning. The scoring came on a barrage of doubles and singles which allowed them to pull away to get the win.

First baseman Jordan Ribera led the way as he went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, plus four RBI and scored twice. Ribera was a 21st round draft pick for the Rockies in 2011.
