The Colorado Rockies (53-77) continue their three-game weekend series against the San Diego Padres (62-71) when the two teams meet for the middle game at Coors Field on Saturday evening.
San Diego held on for a 5-4 win in game one on Friday for its second consecutive win and the tenth win in its last eleven games.
Colorado has lost its last two games and will look to starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin (1-4, 5.55 ERA) to slow down the Padres on Saturday. Chacin is coming off two solid starts, including his last outing in which he took a tough-luck loss despite giving up just one run in five innings against the Chicago Cubs.
The Rockies will look to give Chacin a little better run support when they face San Diego starter Edinson Volquez (9-9, 4.10 ERA). Volquez is coming off of a strong start, as well when he gave up just four hits and two runs in seven inning to earn a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The game is scheduled to start at 6:10 p.m. MT and will be televised on ROOT Sports.
