Colorado ruined Josh Beckett's debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers by taking a 10-0 win in the first game of their series Monday night.
Tyler Colvin led off the game with a home run to put the Rockies up quickly, and DJ LeMahieu chipped in another run in the fourth inning, and Josh Rutledge knocked in another run in the sixth. Jeff Francis did well for himself during his five innings, striking out six while allowing only three hits.
L.A.'s best chance at getting back in the game came in the eighth inning when Rex Brothers and Matt Belisle allowed men to get onto first and third base with one out. Belisle was able to end the jam by forcing Matt Kemp to ground into a double play.
After that, the Rockies offense exploded. Colorado added seven insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth from Colvin, LeMahieu, Jordan Pacheco and Wilin Rosario, who smashed a two-run homer to end the scoring. Matt Belisle closed the game out to seal the 10-0 victory.
